Are you looking to spend your summer giving something back and learning about education in Spain? Need a change of pace? Want to jumpstart your career and perfect your Spanish? Then the Teach English in Spain program is for you! By participating in the Teach English in Spain program, you’ll spend 4-10 weeks of your summer teaching English to Spanish students, getting an up-close, hands-on look at the educational system in Barcelona and Spain, and learning Spanish. You can live with a host family or stay in a shared apartment; both great ways to get to know the local culture! And best of all, you’ll walk away with a killer resume, professional contacts, lifelong friends, and a new perspective. Are you ready for the experience of a lifetime?

This TEFL certification program includes: Twelve modules covering the core curriculum for teaching English as a foreign language Video tutorials and demonstrations integrated into course content Internationally recognized certificate upon completion Your own personal tutor who will grade and provide feedback on your assignments and answer any questions you have during the course Access to GrammarAdvisor(dot)com, an online course and resource for understanding and teaching English grammar to speakers of other languages. Extra coursework that prepares you for two of the most popular fields in ESL: Business English and teaching English to children Access to TEFLVideos(dot)com, an online video library with hundreds of ideas for lesson plans, classroom management, and other useful tips and tricks that will help you improve your teaching Job placement resources from our knowledgeable staff and network of schools around the world Subscription to ESL Library, providing access to hundreds of high-quality lesson plans and thousands of flash cards On-Site Teaching Experience: While in Barcelona, you may be placed in a variety of different English-language learning environments. For a minimum of 10-15 hours per week, you will be responsible for helping with the teaching and administration of these programs. Examples of possible placement opportunities include: Teaching children and/or adults at an English language school on the outskirts of Barcelona Assisting Spanish students at a local university with English language skills and practice interviews Running English classes for immigrants at the local YMCA Participating in local summer camp activities in English to help local children increase their proficiency in the language Additional Activities: In addition to your teaching placement, you will also participate in a number of different activities, both cultural and educational, during the program. You will have the opportunity to meet with and learn from local school administrators and teachers. Tours of local schools and workshops on the educational systems in Spain will complement your hands-on learning during the program. For students participating in the 6-10 week programs, one week of intensive Spanish language classes will also be offered.

BridgeVirtual Language Lessons As part of your program fee, you will receive three free BridgeVirtual language sessions for your use prior to your arrival on-site! Each session lasts 2 hours and includes both pre- and post-class online activities, as well as private, face-to-face time with a certified native speaking teacher. Online TEFL Certification Prior to your arrival in Spain, you will complete a 120-hour TEFLOnline(dot)com Master Diploma, an internationally recognized TEFL certification, giving you all the tools you need to be ready to teach English in Barcelona. The Teach English in Spain program also includes: English teaching placement for at least 10 hours per week A workshop on the educational system in Barcelona and in Spain A workshop on how immigration has impacted the public schools of Barcelona The opportunity to tour a different school than the placement The opportunity to interview school administrators/teachers/students Full cross-cultural orientation program Welcome meal Farewell meal Housing for the duration of the program in homestays or apartments Weekly cultural activities in the city One day trip outside of Barcelona (for 4-8 week programs); Two day trips (for 10-week programs) One week of Intensive Spanish language classes (for 6-10 week programs) Full-time English speaking on-site staff 24-hour support services Airport pick-up (if student arrives on arrival date before specified time)
