Peking University Summer Chinese Language Program is a six week intensive Mandarin Chinese learning program, designed for college students or working professionals who wish to learn Chinese in its local culture. This program has been one of CLERC’s most popular summer programs since 1994. Students are divided into three levels of classes for intensive language training: Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. Each program student is partnered with a Peking University student to practice language skills and facilitate cross-cultural communication. A variety of extracurricular activities and weekend excursions are integrated into the curriculum for a better understanding of Chinese history and culture. The Tsinghua University Chinese History & Society Program is a 4 week summer study program based at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China’s top-ranking institution of higher learning. Co-hosted by CLERC and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tsinghua University, this program is designed to help students develop an understanding of China’s historic, economic, and social transformation, and the global implications of its growth.
