Program Description:

Academia Tica is proud to be one of the first Spanish schools in Costa Rica. After more than 25 years educating people from all over the world, we can say that we know our business very well.

Special programs - Academia Tica offers Volunteering and Internship Programs for students that want to work and improve their language at the same time. We have lots of projects to choose from.

Best spoken Spanish - Costa Rican Spanish is considered to be among the best spoken Spanish in the world. The pronunciation is clear, accurate, slow and accentuated.

Recognition - Spanish courses at Academia Tica are officially recognized for Bildungsurlaub by the German State of Hamburg. Our courses can also be transfered as college credits for U.S. university students through the MAP Program of Brookhaven College in Dallas, TX.

Standard Course Information:
Our most popular course. A general Spanish course with a full morning of lessons that leaves the afternoon for traveling or relaxing. In the box below you will see the highlights of the curriculum for this course:

Structure of the course:

20 Lessons per week (4 lessons per day)

1 lesson: 50 minutes

Number of students in class: Maximum class size: 6 students, minimum class size: 2, average class size: 3-4

Course length: 1-26 weeks

Levels: 6 (Beginner to advanced)

Content: reading, speaking, pronunciation, listening comprehension, grammar, vocabulary expansion, Central American culture.

Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a 30-minute break.

Age 16+

Volunteer Requirements:
This program is available to those students who:

Are at least 18 years old (minors can come as part of a group).

Have an initial Spanish level A2 (National Parks, turtle protection and organic farm) or B1 (social institutions).

Enroll for a minimum of a 2-week Spanish course at Academia Tica prior to the start of the program.

Setting Description:

Internship Requirements:
This program is available to those students who:

Have completed at least 4 university semesters

Enroll for a minimum of a 2-week Academia Tica Spanish course if their Spanish level is upper intermediate, or for a minimum of a 4-week Spanish course if their level is lower intermediate prior to the begining of the internship.

Send their application to Academia Tica at least between 12 and 16 weeks prior to the start of the practical training.
