Program Overview

Program Description:
In the Berlin European Studies Program at Freie University (FU-BEST) you will choose from a wide range of classes that include (but are not limited to): cultural studies, art history, comparative literature, political science, sociology and comparative religion. Most classes are in English; however to better assimilate you to life in Germany, you will take German language classes as well.

"• Join FU-Best on semi-structures excursions. Past excursions have included visits to places in Berlin such as the Reichstag and to cities in Europe such as Prague, Vienna and London. • Attend German language courses available for all levels. • Make friends and practice your German with a student in the FU-BEST buddy program. • Study Germany’s most famous landmarks on-site. FU-BEST thinks of Berlin as its extended classroom, meaning many classes are conducted on-sites, class assignments often take you to the sites, and you are expected to complete two independent projects about landmarks in Berlin. Once divided, Berlin is the center of German politics, arts, and cultural life and the gateway to Eastern Europe. It is an East-West metropolis with something for everyone.  Traverse the streets of Berlin and you will find the monumental Brandenburg Gate, the shops and bustling commerce on the Ku'damm and the hip Hackesche Hoefe district.
