Program Overview

Program Description:
The well-established volatility in the price of oil and natural gases have highlighted the persistent vulnerability of the industrialized economies - and particularly European ones - to this kind of disturbance. Traditionally related to supplies from the Middle East, these economies have started - starting from the nineties, thanks to the emergence of a new international political context - a gradual process of differentiation of their procurement markets. The final outcomes of this process appear, however, still largely to be defined, while in a context characterized by strong volatility and heightened competition, the entry of the EU as a collective actor and the development of its procurement policy represented equally important breaking points. The course aims, therefore, at a twofold objective: on the one hand to analyze what are the current situation of the European energy market and the challenges that it seems destined to face in the future; on the other hand to understand what might be - within this framework - the role of supply markets, both traditional ones and those still emerging. The course is meant, therefore, both as an in-depth introduction to the problem of European energy in the gas and oil field, and as a starting point for possible future research, through additional specialist modules. The origin and the level of teachers, in addition to the spectrum of topics, allow to give to it a setting qualified and suited to the needs of a wide range of potential users. Useful for the Diploma course in "European Affairs".

The ISPI Winter and Summer School offer students, graduates, and young professionals the opportunity to get closer to major international issues through a catalog of intensive short courses on topics such as: Development and Cooperation Humanitarian Emergencies European Affairs Microfinance Human Rights Project Planning Geopolitical Areas The Winter School provides courses of 15 hours each, offered on weekends (Friday and Saturday from 9.30am to 6.30pm).
