Program Description:

Want to get ahead in the summer and finish your language requirements in only 4 weeks? This is the program for you! In only 4 weeks you will get 80 hours of Intensive Italian Instruction. You will love living in the city of Siena, becoming a local and, for those participating in the June term, having the rare chance to witness the Palio, Siena’s famous horse race, in one of the most recognized piazzas in the world, Piazza del Campo. You will also take a 4-course hands-on professional cooking class and if you find you have a passion for food you will have the possibility of taking more cooking classes at Art & Cooking culinary school in the evening as to not interfere with your morning classes. Included in the program are all the free afternoon and weekend co-curricular activities where you will get a chance not only to meet new friends but also keep busy and have fun learning and living the Italian culture, art, society, etc.

80 hours of Intensive Italian language w/o Anthropology Course: -Cultural tours and guided visits to museums in Siena; -Conferences on several Italian Culture topics such as: opera, journalism, politics, music, history, art, Mediterranean diet, etc..; -"Cine Club" - Italian movies and operas shown in Italian with Italian subtitles with producers such as: Bernigni, Bertolucci, Troisi, Fellini, Germi, Moretti, Muccino; -Excursions and walks in the Sienese countryside; Dante Alighieri Siena provides opportunities for students to gain experience also through community service. -Tours to some of the most interesting towns of Tuscany (San Gimignano, Pienza, Florence, Lucca, Chianti, etc.);

Cost:

Price ranges from $1980 to $3340 depending on choice of housing. Price includes: -housing; -Orientation meeting and walk-through of the city; -Welcome lunch; -Lessons on-site with entrance tickets to Duomo, Cripta, and Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, Palazzo Pubblico; -Hands-on professional cooking class of 5-course meal; -Text books and readers; -Afternoon and weekend co-curricular activities (some require additional payment)
