Program Description:
CIS is a liberal arts American College with nearly 30 years of experience. Academic Excellence: Our Students transfer to and graduate from some of the top US Universities, such as: University of California: Berkeley, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara (CA) Boston College (MA), Boston University (MA), Columbia University (NY), Duke (NC), Endicott College (MA), Georgetown University (DC), University of Miami (FL), New York University (NY), University of Southern California (CA) and many others. Accreditation: CIS is recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education. In 1995, CIS and Endicott College entered into an affiliation agreement whereby students studying Endicott College academic programs receive Endicott College credit. Endicott College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Students that successfully complete the program at CIS receive official transcripts from Endicott College. Language: The primary language of instruction is English with selected courses taught in Spanish. Average Class Size: 15 Student-Faculty ratio: 7:1 Faculty: 100% bilingual English-Spanish Enrollment: 250-300, from Spain (50%), United States, rest of Europe, Latin America, Middle East Application Deadlines for Summer and Fall 2009: Early Application Deadline: February 2, 2009 Standard Application Deadline: April 27, 2009 Late Application deadline: CIS might set a late application deadline subject to availability. Admission requirements: • High school transcript • TOFEL score 550 or equivalent (for non native English speakers) College credit: CIS will award College credit for select IB, AP and A-levels exams Community Service: Students can join accredited community service program offered by the CIS-run charity called Crusade for The Children Scholarship & Financial Aid: The Foundation for International Studies offers merit-based scholarships; all new degree seeking applicants are considered. Each semester, CIS offers a number of work-study positions. U.S. students that study at CIS and are enrolled in Endicott College are eligible to apply for federal financial aid through FAFSA. In addition, they can finance their studies through the Stafford Loan Program or similar loan programs. Extra Curricular Activities: • A variety of sports activities • Varied excursion program to various Spanish destinations, guided by CIS professors • Guided visits to Museums, Art Galleries, Theater, etc. Housing: CIS offers three types of housing arrangements, all with Internet connections and within 20 minutes commute to the College • Home stay in Spanish families • University residencies • Private shared apartments In addition, selected arrangements offer the option of half board, full board and laundry services.
