Program Description:

Accademia Riaci is an Art and Design professional school since 1983, concentrated on giving professional and hands-on training. Each Ceramics class will welcome 8 students, who will learn various techniques directly from our expert artisans in their equipped ateliers.

The excellent facilities allow students to build up an extensive knowledge of techniques, materials and processes. The course specializes in acquiring production skills, encompassing: clay and glaze technology, wheel throwing techniques, kiln theory and operation, surface treatments, hand-building sculpture. Special attention is given to the study of Italian traditional Terracotta techniques and the famous tin-glazed Majolica pottery, dating from the Renaissance. In addition, students build specialized skills focused on concept development, drawing and design, with the final purpose of creating a body of innovative works. You will learn from traditional techniques of ceramics as well as modern techniques. Setting Description:

The school is located in the historical centre of Florence, a few steps from the Church of St. Lorenzo and a few minutes' work from the central station and the Duomo. School building is a historical structure built for a queen. Lessons are held in the school's atelier and at actual laboratory of the instructor to gets hands-on experience.
