Program Description:

This intensive French Summer program set in the heart of Provence maximizes French immersion by offering an all French-language learning environment, an individual homestay and a French peer language partner. French language courses are combined with a strategic weekly seminar which focuses on the cultural context of contemporary France and accompanies the students' adaptation process.

This six-week Summer immersion program offers intensive French language courses for intermediate to advanced levels. Local excursions and regional full-day field trips expand the classroom and complete the curriculum, and optional courses include French wine and Provençal cooking. At successful completion of the program, students earn the equivalent of two semesters of college French.

Highlights include the individual home-stay, an all French-language environment, on-going training in cross-cultural communication, French peer language exchange and optional courses in French wine tasting or Provençal cooking.

Set in one of the most coveted places in the world for a summer stay: Provence. Repeatedly voted France's favorite city, by the French themselves, Aix-en-Provence is small, yet lively, offering multiple opportunities for engagement in the local culture and an active social life. A university city full of sidewalk cafés, open-air markets, restaurants, shops, museums & cinemas, Aix sets the scene for students to take full advantage of the long Summer days.

Program costs include tuition, housing in carefully selected French families on a demi-pension basis (seven breakfasts and five dinners a week plus Sunday lunches) in Aix-en-Provence, comprehensive health & personal liability insurance, books and field trips. Airfare and local daily transport are not included.
