Program Overview

Program Description:
The AUCP provides advanced French immersion programs in the South of France. Immerse yourself in French language and culture for a semester and make record progress in French language and intercultural competence through multi-faceted full French language immersion: coursework in French, individual homestay, community service, club memberships and language exchange partners.

This advanced French immersion program offers coursework in French/European Studies, Literature, Theater & more. Students make record progress toward French fluency, improve intercultural skills, & enjoy life in Aix-en-Provence, home to a large vibrant French student population. An all French-language learning environment is combined with training in cross-cultural mediation, regional day trips & optional courses in wine tasting & cooking. Come to the AUCP to live & learn with & like the French!

Highlights include the individual home-stay, an all French-language environment, on-going training in cross-cultural communication, weekly community service, club or activity, French peer language exchange and optional direct enrollment in local French universities. Participants obtain two internationally recognized certificates of achievement: TEF (Test d'Evaluation de Français) certification & IDI (International Development Inventory) upon successful completion of the program.
Setting Description:
Repeatedly voted France's favorite city by the French themselves, Aix-en-Provence is a university city full of sidewalk cafés, open-air markets, restaurants, shops, museums & cinemas. Cosmopolitan, lively, yet small enough to get to know and quickly feel at home, Aix-en-Provence offers multiple opportunities for engagement in the local culture and an active social life, setting the scene for students to take full advantage of a semester abroad.
Cost:
See the AUCP website for detailed program costs per semester. Program costs include tuition, housing in carefully selected French families on a demi-pension basis (seven breakfasts and five dinners a week plus Sunday lunches) in Aix, comprehensive health & personal liability insurance, books and field trips. Airfare and local daily transport are not included.
