Program Overview

Program Description:
AIT provides a unique study abroad experience in Budapest, Hungary that is geared towards North American computer science and software engineering undergraduates. The curriculum combines foundational computing courses with innovative courses in entrepreneurship, design, and special topics that are not easy to find elsewhere. AIT offers semester-long programs as well as a five-week summer session.

The AIT curriculum is made up of four course groups, each containing several different course offerings: (1) Foundational courses in computer science (2) Advanced Applications (3) Creative design and entrepreneurship (4) Humanities courses related to Hungary’s rich cultural heritage Classes are taught in English by eminent Hungarian professors, most of whom have had teaching experience in North American universities. Emphasis is on depth of understanding rather than on the quantity of material. The academic program is based on a philosophy of small and intimate classes, close collaboration of students and faculty, and hands-on work through group projects.

AIT allows computer science students wishing to study abroad to do so without falling behind in their major-specific requirements.
